Heritage Baptist Church
Martinsburg, Pennsylvania
Pastor Mark Biter
On Thursday after finishing the conference in Moline, Illinois, we rose early, packed the car and traveled back to Pennsylvania. We arrived after midnight, unpacked the car, and got settled in. Friday was a very busy day of errands, drag-up work and catch up. On Saturday we visited all day.
Sunday was Father’s Day but I was out of town, about 35 minutes away, preaching for a dear friend who is over the mountain, Pastor Mark Biter and Heritage Baptist Church of Martinsburg. There was one saved, one for membership, and the altars were full both morning and evening. As always, we had a delicious meal and great fellowship in the Biters’ home during the afternoon. After the service that night, we fellowshipped for a short while and then headed to the house.
Please continue to pray for Brother Biter, as he has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment for it. He is able to preach, but feeling the effects of both the cancer and the treatment. This is a good and faithful man of God and a dear friend of many years, and we sincerely ask you to join us in praying for him.
Revival Fires! Regional Conference
Community Baptist Church
Richmond, Virginia
Dr. Mike McClary
The next morning on Monday we rose early, repacked the car and made our way to Richmond, Virginia to be with our good friend, Pastor Mike McClary, and Community Baptist Church for a Monday-Tuesday Revival Fires Conference. The Lord gave us a great meeting with Brother McClary and his people. One responded on the first night for salvation and the altars were full in both invitations.
As always, we enjoyed good fellowship with Brother McClary and his wife. On Tuesday night after the service we headed home, partly to avoid the morning traffic jam in Richmond. We arrived home about 2:00 am. on Wednesday morning.
Revival/Anniversary Sunday
Faith Baptist Church
Osterburg, Pennsylvania
There was plenty of work do to around the church and Revival Fires office that we needed to handle. On Thursday night I preached out of Revelation 14 and we had a good prayer meeting with the home church.
Saturday was a busy day of visiting because we kicked off a revival meeting at the home church and continued through Wednesday night. There was one saved during the revival, a number of first time visitors, a few who came for the first time in quite a while, and it was a good springboard for the next Sunday which was the 43rd Anniversary of Faith Baptist Church. We visited much on Saturday again. Some of our ladies who run the grocery giveaway were able to give out many invitations to church and copies of Revival Fires.
The Lord gave us an excellent crowd on Anniversary Sunday and the altars were full at invitation time. After the morning service I fed the crowd smoked beef brisket and pork ribs. The ladies brought some tremendous sides and desserts and it turned out to be a delicious meal and a great fellowship. We closed the meeting out on Sunday night. My wife and I also celebrated 43 years of marriage this month.
We began to work on things that pertain to the Shooters’ Expo right away on Monday and labored at it all week long. We changed our midweek service to Wednesday July 3, so that people would have the 4th with their family. On the 4th, two of our three daughters were able to make it to our home with their families. Our staff folks joined us and we had a great Fourth of July meal. The ladies made sides and desserts galore. As my custom is, I cooked up a huge amount of meat: burgers, brats and brisket. We had a wonderful family day and time to catch up and a little bit of rest.
Mayfield Bible Baptist Church
Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania
Pastor Ken Manypenny
On Friday we loaded the vehicle up in the afternoon and headed to Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to be with our good friend, Pastor Ken Manypenny, and Mayfield Bible Baptist Church. We were there for a Friday-Saturday-Sunday revival meeting. I was excited for Brother Manypenny because of the good crowd on the first night and the number of guests who showed up. Several preachers were in attendance and there was a great response at the altar.
On Saturday my wife and I spent most of the day on office work and preparing this issue of the paper. We grabbed a bite to eat in the afternoon and made our way to church on Saturday evening. Once again, the Lord blessed the services and the altars were full.
On Sunday morning we rose early, got ready, packed up and loaded the car and then headed to church. I spoke in Sunday School and the morning service. Then we had dinner on the grounds. At 2 o’clock we had the final service. It was a good day and there was a good response at the altar again. We enjoyed great fellowship around the meal table. During meal time the men helped me get the books loaded.
Immediately after that service we said our goodbyes and jumped into our vehicle and headed home so that I could preach the 7:00 pm evening service at Faith Baptist Church. Praise the Lord, we got home without incident or delay and I preached the evening service. We had a great time of fellowship, some excellent testimonies and a good response at the altar after the message.
After the service I went home to crash and burn. We’ve had a busy couple of days with cleaning, mowing and prep for the Shooters Expo, which is still about a week away. We are on a count-down of lists of things to be completed, and there is still a lot to be done. Workers will start arriving later this week.
Please keep us in your prayers, and hopefully sometime soon we will cross paths somewhere along the Gospel trail.
